Double-Wing Pallet

A pallet with top and bottom deck boards extending beyond the edges of the boards

Export Pallet
1100 - 1140mm timber pallets, suitable for containers

Fork Entry

Opening between decks, beneath the top deck or beneath the stringer notch to admit forks


Full Deck Pallet 
A pallet made with no spacing between deck boards

Fumigation

A heat process where timber product is treated for pests Suitable and sometimes required for Exporting.


Pallet

A portable, horizontal, rigid platform used as a base for assembling, storing, stacking, handling and transporting goods as a unit load.


Pallet Jack
Hand-propelled wheeled platform, equipped with a lifting device for moving palletized unit loads

Perimeter Base
Base boards arranged to provide a level surface along the four underneath sides of a pallet with an additional board across the centre. Suitable for pallet trolley.






Bearers

Timbers to which the deck boards of a 2-way entry pallet fixed thus providing spaces between top and bottom deck for entry forks.


Block
Timber block, which connect the top deck assembly to the base of a 4-way pallet thus providing spaces for entry.


Block Pallet
A type of pallet with blocks between the pallet decks or beneath the top deck

Bottom Deck
Assembly of deck boards comprising the lower, load bearing surface of the pallet


Chamfer
A 45 degree bevel two-thirds the thickness of the board, usually on both uppermost edges of base boards to facilitate entry of hand pallet trucks. Bevel usually stops at points of intersection with blocks or bearers (stopped chamfer) or can run through full length of board (through chamfer).


Deck
The load-bearing surface of a pallet. euro or skid.

Double-Face Pallet

Recycled Pallet
pallet that has been repaired for reuse; also known as a refurbished pallet or reconditioned pallet

Reversible
Having identical top and bottom decks - usually not suitable for pallet trolley access..


Skid

A pallet having no bottom deck

Single-Wing Pallet

A pallet with the top deck boards extending beyond the edges of the bearer with the bottom deck boards flush

1165 x 1165mm timber pallet, suitable for pallet racking

Trolley Jack access

Space provided in the bottom deck to allow pallet jack wheels to bear on the floor

Wings
Deck boards protrude beyond stringers or bearers. Single wing top deck only protruding.
Double wing top and bottom decks protruding.  Often used in conjunction with shrink wrapping.


2-Way Entry
Entry on two opposite sides.


4-Way Entry
Entry on all sides.
